With the power of the internet, there are no limits. If we want to, we can read MapleBet Review 2021, watch movies on our laptops, and rant on blogs, anytime we feel like it. What’s more, we can also find music contests around the globe, that we probably haven’t even heard of.
No matter how many times we hear great musicians sing, we still get impressed by new, talented people over and over again. There is something about music contests that is addictive, so much that once you find a person you are rooting for, you won’t be able to stop watching. Around the globe, there are many music competitions and here we selected the 4 most popular ones for you to check out.
1. American Idol
American Idol is, as its name suggests, an American singing competition and one of the most popular shows in America. American Idol first aired in 2002 and now we’ve reached the 19th season!
After all these years, the show still has a huge fanbase, mostly thanks to the judges – who wouldn’t want to watch a show with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and many more famous singers? Of course, a singing competition wouldn’t be interesting if it didn’t have some great singers, and thankfully, American Idol has had some amazing new vocals such as Laine Hardy, Maddie Poppe, Jordin Sparks, and Trent Harmon.
2. The Eurovision Song Contest
Every year Europe organizes the Eurovision Song Contest – the biggest music competition in the world. All of the countries send a person or a group of singers to represent them with an original song, and over the course of three nights, the winner is chosen. The Eurovision Song Contest is a great competition because it includes all types of music, all languages and ethnicities, and different kinds of performances. Everything is over the top and spectacular, and for those three nights, music truly unites all European countries. What you probably didn’t know about this competition is that the list of previous contestants includes CĂ©line Dion as well as ABBA who performed with the song Waterloo.
3. The X Factor
The X Factor is a British singing competition created by Simon Cowell in 2004.
Just like American Idol, the reason The X Factor remains so popular is mostly because of the judges, even though the competitors shouldn’t be overlooked either. When it comes to judges, Simon Cowell is the one that is present every season while other judges change. Over the years, many famous musicians have judged the singers including Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl, Robbie Williams, and Demi Lovato. You probably know many of the names that have won, or become famous through The X Factor. These include Little Mix, One Direction, Leona Lewis, Olly Murs, James Arthur, and many others. The X Factor is currently on hold due to the global pandemic, but there will be some changes when it does return – there will be two mini-series called The X Factor: Celebrity and The X Factor: The Band.
4. The Voice
The Voice is another popular American singing competition with a similar format as the American Idol. The Voice differs in the fact that the judges need to hit a buzzer that lights up based on whether they like the candidate or not. This doesn’t really change the format, it just adds a nice dramatic effect. Among judges, you might have seen Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, and Alicia Keys, while the winners include some young talented people such as Javier Colon, Danielle Bradbery, and Tessanne Chin.
