Farmers and activists attacked by settlers and the army
Palestinian farmers from the west bank village of Safa accompanied by a group of Israelis and internationals were prevented to harvest their lands on the 30/5/2009.
After about an hour of harvest, the Israeli soldiers and police gave 10 minutes to the group to leave the area that was declared closed military zone. The soldiers violently attacked the group, arresting 2 Israelis, and evicting the people with batons. In the mean time, the settlers from Beit Ayn gathered and shouted racist slogans such as “kill all the Arabs”.
In another location a group of 15 settlers attacked a group of women and children, and flipped over the car of a left wing activist, under the eyes of the Israeli soldiers who stood idle. A Palestinian farmer flipped back the car with his tractor. Again the Israeli soldiers declared the zone a closed military zone and violently pushed away the people, arresting further three Israelis, and beat them with batons. They also arrested two Palestinian boys, both aged 14 years old.needless to mention, none of the attacking settlers were arrested
